Florida CNA Written Exam: Prometric CIB Outline and Practice Map
Florida CNA written exam guide: 60-question Prometric CIB outline weights, how they differ from NNAAP, and a map from each CIB area to MedCertPrep practice hubs.
By MedCertPrep Team · Updated September 16, 2026
This short guide helps Florida candidates use MedCertPrep for the Prometric Written/Oral Test without treating our bank as a Florida-labeled clone. Official domain weights and wording live in the Florida Candidate Information Bulletin (PDF). For the state landing, start at Florida CNA. For skills, use Florida CNA skills test.
How does the Florida written exam differ from NNAAP?
Florida uses Prometric. Many Credentia states (including California) use the 2024 NNAAP written outline. MedCertPrep's national CNA bank is organized around NNAAP-style domains.
| Item | Florida Prometric (CIB) | NNAAP / many Credentia states |
|---|---|---|
| Typical form | About 60 questions, 90 minutes | 70 items (60 scored + 10 pretest on written) |
| Outline source | Florida CIB written content outline | 2024 NNAAP Written Content Outline PDF |
| Domain labels | Role, Safety, Function/Health, Basic Nursing Care, Specialized Care | Physical Care, Psychosocial Care, Role of the Nurse Aide |
| Language options | English and Spanish written; audio available when selected on application | Follow your Credentia state handbook |
Themes still overlap heavily (ADLs, infection control, rights, reporting, emergencies). The map below shows how to allocate MedCertPrep practice against Florida weights.
Pro Tip: Keep the Florida CIB PDF open while you practice. When a question feels "Role vs Safety," check which CIB section owns that topic before you decide what to drill next.
Florida CIB outline → MedCertPrep practice
Confirm percentages in the live CIB. Use our hubs for theme volume, not as a claim that every item is Florida-blueprint tagged. Official deep links can change; if a PDF does not open, start from the Prometric Florida Nurse Aide hub and download the current Candidate Information Bulletin there.
| Florida CIB area | Weight | What to drill | MedCertPrep hub |
|---|---|---|---|
| I. Role of the Nurse Aide | 20% | Scope, teamwork, care plan, reporting, ethics, communication | Role of the Nurse Aide |
| II. Promotion of Safety | 22% | Falls, restraint alternatives, infection control, emergencies, fire safety | Physical Care |
| III. Promotion of Function and Health | 20% | ADLs, hydration, mobility, psychosocial support | Physical Care (+ Psychosocial Care for coping/support stems) |
| IV. Basic Nursing Care | 24% | Observe/report changes; acute cues (choking, chest pain, stroke signs, falls) | Physical Care |
| V. Specialized Care / Changes in Health | 14% | Impairment safety, confusion/anxiety themes, dying resident and comfort | Psychosocial Care (+ Physical Care for impairment safety) |
Suggested weekly split when Florida is your target: spend the largest blocks on Physical Care (covers Safety + Function + Basic Nursing Care), then protect Role, then shorter Psychosocial sets for specialized-care themes.
What MedCertPrep does and does not do for Florida

No. Use it for theme practice, and use the CIB for Florida weights and exact topic lists. Do not skip the official outline.
Is California practice advice wrong for Florida?
