How CNA testing works in Florida
Typical vendor path: Prometric. MedCertPrep is independent exam prep, not a state registry. Use the official resources section for eligibility, fees, and skills wording.
- Florida uses Prometric for the CNA exam (Clinical Skills Test plus Written or Oral/Audio Test). The Florida Department of Health / Board of Nursing maintains certification and the CNA Registry. Start with the Board CNA page and the Prometric Florida Nurse Aide hub before you apply.
- Written test (per Florida CIB): typically 60 multiple-choice questions in about 90 minutes. English and Spanish written options exist; an audio form is available when selected on the application. The content outline is the Prometric Florida outline in the Candidate Information Bulletin, not the Credentia 2024 NNAAP written outline.
- Clinical Skills Test: you are scored on five skills. While you perform three assigned skills, you are also scored on handwashing and Indirect Care. Handwashing is often evaluated at the start and may not be separately prompted. Timing commonly ranges about 31 to 40 minutes depending on the assigned skills. - You generally must pass both exam parts within two years of your first passed test date, with up to three attempts before a minimum 120-hour approved training requirement applies. Confirm live attempt and absence rules in the Florida CIB.
- After you pass, scores go to the Board of Nursing for certificate issuance and Florida CNA Registry listing. MedCertPrep is supplemental practice for overlapping nurse aide themes; it is not a Florida-specific Prometric item bank.
