How CNA testing works in Kentucky
Typical vendor path: Headmaster / D&S Diversified. MedCertPrep is independent exam prep, not a state registry. Use the official resources section for eligibility, fees, and skills wording.
- Kentucky State Registered Nurse Aide (SRNA) competency evaluation is administered by the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) using the Headmaster TestMaster Universe (TMU) platform. It is not Credentia NNAAP and not Prometric.
- After training, your instructor enters you in ky.tmutest.com. Complete your account, pay fees when required, then schedule written and skills exams through TMU. Start from the Headmaster Kentucky CNA home and the KCTCS nurse aide site for current study-guide downloads.
- Knowledge exam (per the July 2026 KCTCS / Headmaster study guide; confirm the live PDF): typically 75 multiple-choice questions with a 2-hour limit. Passing is typically 70% or better (about 52 correct).
- Skills test: you demonstrate five randomly selected skills. Vital signs are always included. You must perform about 70% of the steps correctly, and all bold critical steps with 100% accuracy. Hand Hygiene is required. Confirm live wording in the current study guide.
- Attempt windows: an employed long-term care individual commonly has three opportunities within the initial four-month employment period. An individual not currently employed in long-term care commonly has three opportunities within one year of training completion. Confirm live rules in the current study guide.
- After you pass both parts, results are forwarded to the Kentucky Board of Nursing for SRNA registry listing (often within about 10 days, and possibly up to about 30 days). Confirm status on KBN pages.
