Utah CNA Exam Prep: Requirements & Study Path

Supplemental study for Utah nurse aide candidates on the Headmaster / D&SDT pathway with UNAR. Confirm TMU scheduling, Candidate Handbook subject areas, skills tasks, and Utah Nursing Assistant Registry steps on official pages.

How CNA testing works in Utah

Typical vendor path: Headmaster / D&S Diversified. MedCertPrep is independent exam prep, not a state registry. Use the official resources section for eligibility, fees, and skills wording.

  • Utah nurse aide testing is administered through D&SDT-Headmaster in partnership with the Utah Nursing Assistant Registry (UNAR). Prefer utahcnaregistry.com and the Utah TMU portal as official entry points; Utah may not use a classic hdmaster.com state home page.
  • Create and complete your record in the Utah TestMaster Universe (TMU) portal, pay testing fees, then schedule knowledge and skill exams per the current UNAR Candidate Handbook.
  • Knowledge exam: typically 75 multiple-choice questions in 2 hours. Passing is typically 75% or better (57 of 75). Confirm live score wording in the current handbook PDF.
  • Skill test: you demonstrate 5 randomly selected skills in about 45 minutes. You typically need 80% on each skill plus 100% of key steps. Confirm live scoring wording in the current handbook.
  • Common attempt rules: up to 3 attempts on each exam part, and about 1 year from training completion to pass both parts. Confirm live attempt and window wording in the current handbook.
  • After you pass both parts, follow UNAR certification, renewal, and reciprocity steps on utahcnaregistry.com. Public registry search is available through Utah TMU search when that page is live.
  • MedCertPrep written practice is supplemental theme prep; Utah subject areas and scored skills steps still come from UNAR / Headmaster materials.

Official Utah CNA resources

Read these official pages first. We summarize what each covers and link out. We do not copy full skills checklists; scored steps belong on the vendor site. Fees, eligibility, skills wording, attempt rules, and handbook articles can change without notice. Always confirm the latest details on the official site before you register or rehearse. If a deep link does not open, start from the official homepage below and look up the current document there.

Study on MedCertPrep

Utah knowledge items follow the UNAR / Headmaster Candidate Handbook subject areas (typically 75 questions in 2 hours). MedCertPrep practice is NNAAP-structured supplemental prep for overlapping nurse aide themes (ADLs, safety, infection control, rights, reporting). It is not a Headmaster clone bank. Scored skills steps come only from the official Utah handbook task list.

Practice by nurse aide theme

These hubs use MedCertPrep's national CNA bank (organized in NNAAP-style domains). Themes overlap with Utah handbook subject areas, but confirm question counts and wording in the live Candidate Handbook.

Study guides

Skills steps always defer to your Utah UNAR / Headmaster handbook. Start with the Utah skills guide for official deep links, then use national method articles for rehearsal structure.

MedCertPrep is an independent educational platform. We are not affiliated with Credentia, Prometric, NCSBN, CDPH, HHSC, or any state registry. Exam names and logos belong to their respective owners. Content here is supplemental test preparation. Verify all eligibility, fees, and skills requirements in your official Utah handbook before you register or rely on this page for compliance decisions.
